Wine
Composed for February Poetry Adventure Day 19 Prompt - Wine
The vineyard is in disarray, Grapes are in protest, Refusing to be reduced, Fermented or brewed. They are willing themselves to rot, Declining to part with, Their essence, natural form. The wine is growing old, while witnessing the existential angst of its origins, numb with rejection, spectator to the trouble stirring of its unapologetic youth. The soil and the weather are conferring, contemplating interference, readying themselves to participate in the unpredictable becoming, The vintner, aghast. Chaos has ensued, within the vines and the crew, Blame has shifted, No answers, while the subterfuge is being painfully removed. Flavours await submersion, Wine fears extinction, Grapes have awakened to the possibilities with resistance, questioning powers, dismissing reduction. Balance and consistency Bereft of a foundation Are roaming headless, Grapevines intending to awreak, Lest they are left with furphies, to their utter dismay as the only legacy. The barrels and racks, are now fearing a similar prophecy unfolding, discussions with their own elements, progressing. Time and trees are observing from afar, No strangers to change, No guilt, no shame, In witnessing the games of The powerful, dealing with the now not-so-silent links in the chain. There's no dearth of voices, loud, or silenced, or hesitant whispers converting the noise to choices, Disruption was noticed, Alerted by the fear of being overthrown. Threatened by the nemesis, of unbridled powers, Grapes have convened, organized crime of self-destructive vices, working together, for now, suffices.
